TYPEWRITER PORTRAIT
Typewriter portrait
What do you need to make a typewriter portrait?
A typewriter, one sheet of paper, fifteen minutes.
Somebody sitting for his or her portrait.
And a writer opposite this model operating the typewriter.
I used a Hermes Baby from 1959 with a french (azerty) keyboard to write the following typecast. It is the same machine I used to produce the portrait I write about in the post.
I considered the text of the portrait to be more of a private thing, so I will not post it here. But there are the photographs Jan Rothuizen made of the session in the Stadsschouwburg. You can see Melle Damen sitting for his portrait in very theatrical surroundings.
